Greyhound trainer suspended for animal cruelty

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — A Sarasota State College student was suspended Monday for animal cruelty for allegedly touching and training a dog while she was a member of its trainer class.

Mandy Lefaucheur posted video of a July visit to a K9 club where she was shown interacting with dogs during an exercise class. She has not been charged, but in it she talks about her “puppy’s” first d바카라사이트ay of life and the owner of the puppy she was seen training in.

But according to a court document, there is little evidence to support that claim. A trainer s바카라사이트ays the only evidence she has of how Lefaucheur did what she said was acceptable behavior is a photo of a dog walking over her shoulder.

Lefaucheur’s attorney argued her actions are protected by Florida’s animal cruelty laws and the university did not violate them.

“If the (Department of Agriculture) could find no evidence that she had anything illegal done in th바카라e course of her employment, then they would have no reason to terminate her,” attorney Mark Zoll said.

A jury has returned a verdict against Lefaucheur for violation of animal welfare laws. She faces up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
